Hop On a Turtle Game

Why

Get together with your family or friends to create a colorful, fun outdoor game. You decide on the playing field and the rules!

Steps

1. Ask an adult to help you find a safe, paved, outdoor surface for your game. While looking for a good place, talk about the kind of game you would like to set up and the possible rules you’ll make! Get permission before you paint.

2. Change into washable clothes and shoes. Assemble your Crayola® Sidewalk Paint Sprayer. Start by spraying a lake or ocean, and then add turtles.

3. Plan where you want your turtles. Space them so you can add other creatures as well (jelly fish, snakes, worms, snails). Paint your turtles with the Sidewalk Paint Sprayer too. Decorate details with a Crayola Super Brush. Add other creatures. Use your imagination! They could be anything!

4. You might decide what direction you would like to hop in the game, and number your turtles in that direction. Make up your game rules, such as avoiding dangerous creatures, and have fun playing!

5. When you’re finished, hose off your game. Design a new game soon!

Interesting Info

Turtle shells are complex body parts that have interesting patterns! The upper shell has a bony shield down the middle. The scaly area around it is called a lateral shield. The border of a turtle’s shell is still another pattern. More shell protects the turtle from underneath.
